WHY WE’RE REBUILDING
A Century of History, A New Beginning
Alpha Beta was chartered at the University of Illinois in 1922 and built a century-long legacy of leadership, scholarship, brotherhood, and service. Today, we're relaunching the chapter with a small group of founding members who will shape what Alpha Beta becomes for the next hundred years — its officers, its traditions, and its house.
This isn't joining an existing chapter. It's a chance to help build one, with the full backing of Theta Xi's national fraternity and a century of alumni who still call themselves brothers.
OUR FOUNDING PRINCIPLES
The Seven Purposes of Theta Xi

First Purpose
Intellectual Curiosity that assures the highest scholarship rating consistent with his ability.
II.
Second Purpose
Habits that lead to better mental and physical health.
III.
Third Purpose
Sincerity in his association with others and confidence in himself.
IV.
Fourth Purpose
Responsibility to chapter, college, community, and country.
V.
Fifth Purpose
Leadership that comes from practicing the principles of democratic self-government.

Sixth Purpose
Interests and activities outside regular scholastic studies that employ spare time to advantage.

Seventh Purpose
Spiritual understanding that provides a reservoir of strength to draw upon when faced with conditions beyond comprehension.
